At M.O.T.A. we have two highly experienced Occupational Therapists who bring extensive medicolegal experience.

We can provide expert witness Occupational Therapy assessments; together with quantum and liability reports; review on the papers reports; day in the life videos; participation in conferences with the legal team, mediation, conclaves and provide evidence in Court.

These services are provided throughout Australia and internationally upon request.

Kathy Clarkson

Director, Occupational Therapist

Kathryn Clarkson has been working full time as an Occupational Therapist for more than 30 years and has been provide support in medicolegal matters for more than 20 years.

In medicolegal matters she is typically involved in around 30-50 medicolegal cases every year involving both paediatric and adult cases, with referrals consistently received from both plaintiff and defense firms, and she provides mentoring services to other Occupational Therapists completing medicolegal assessment and reporting.

Medicolegal report writing includes both liability and quantum reports, together with AAT matters relating to the NDIS and Immigration.  Kathy has experience as an expert witness in cases that involve a broad range of issues including wrongful birth; intellectual disability and ABI; CVA; spinal injury; amputations; sensory specific deficits (acute and post traumatic); hand, upper and lower limb injuries; birth related trauma & associated neurodevelopmental issues; medical conditions such as organ transplants and cancer, including end of life needs and psychiatric injuries including those relating to trauma.

Kathy has been required to be involved in mediations, conclaves and providing evidence in Court within these roles.  She has provided medicolegal assessment services in city, regional, remote indigenous, interstate and international locations.

Joanne Mainsbridge

Occupational Therapist

Joanne Mainsbridge is an Occupational Therapist who specialises in psychosocial conditions, workplace health and injury prevention.

She completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand. She continued doing her Post-Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, completing her studies and obtaining her Master of Science (Distinction) in Workplace Health at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

Joanne undertakes assessments in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims.

Joanne is currently also working as a private supervisor for various Occupational Therapists and continues to be actively involved in clinical education.
